How To Create An Effective Training Program For Your MLM Downline
In order to have a functioning downline, you need to create an effective training program with which to train them. You simply can’t entrust this to your company. The reason for this is that companies have proven that they are all about the products and the opportunity. However, the statistics show that they fail miserably when it comes to training the new recruit about prospecting and recruiting. Yes, they can provide great product training, but rely on you for marketing their product and training your downline.
Training your downline
Many MLM Guru’s say that you should leave the training to their program and concentrate on building your business. I do believe you should invest in some training yourself, but I also believe that you should use that investment to train your team yourself. Most of your team would not have the drive to do the required training by themselves, and they would fail as a result. It is better to train them and motivate them yourself. You could invest in the different training programs, but use them to create your own program. A great training program has many modules to address all the skills needed for turning your team into professional network marketers.
As affiliate marketing is very similar to network marketing, the skills learned in affiliate marketing will help your team when it comes to effectively market online, and you will do good to include it in your training modules.
Training your downline is very similar to presentation skills training. You have to have goals and objectives for every training session, and remember not to give too much information. If you give too much information, your team will definitely not retain the information. You need one main goal, and about 3 – 4 objectives to get to your goal. Talk about the goal and then spend some time on each objective to reach the goal.
Example of what to include in a training session
If your goal is for your new recruit to learn about prospecting, you will talk about
- How to start a conversation
- What kind of questions to ask the prospect (how to qualify them)
- How to get them to say yes to a meeting with you
- How to answer initial questions
You can role-play and practice these steps. Then you can give scripts as handouts to help your team practice as well.
That is just one module, and quite a large one at that, as there are many ways to prospect. In fact, there are 101 ways to find prospects. You will want to create a class on each way to prospect so that your downline can choose the best methods to prospect that will work for them.
Your training program
In training your team, I suggest including the following modules:
- Prospecting – this should include
- what to say
- how to say it
- the different ways to find and cultivate a warm market
- how to qualify your prospect
- how to answer questions
- What to say
- Answering questions
- Presenting – how to present the opportunity and the compensation plan
- Following up – how to effectively follow up without being perceived as a pest
- Training – how to train your downline
- Motivating and inspiring your downline
If you are to become successful in network marketing, your downline needs to become successful as well. If you treat it like you’re the CEO of your own business, and you train your “employees” so they can rise to the top as well, you will be successful.
And remember to instill a love of reading, learning and growing in your downline. Habits like these will change their mindset and they will also become successful.
